Summary: SinhaLex runs entirely in your browser and has no backend server. We do not operate any server, database, or account system, and we do not collect your data. AI translations are sent directly from your browser to Google's Gemini API using your own key.

Overview

SinhaLex ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that provides context-aware English-to-Sinhala translation using Google's Gemini AI. The extension operates entirely on your device.

Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or receive any of your data. There is no SinhaLex server.

Selected Words and Context: When you translate a word, the extension captures the word and its surrounding sentence. For AI translations this text is sent directly to Google's Gemini API; it does not pass through any server we operate. Dictionary lookups are fully offline.
Your Gemini API Key: Stored locally in your browser via Chrome's storage API and used only to authenticate requests to Google's Gemini API. It is never sent to us.
Cache & History: Recent translations are cached locally in your browser to speed up repeat lookups. You can clear them any time with the Clear Cache button.

How Your Information Is Used

Selected text is sent directly to Google's Gemini API to generate a translation.
Text is used solely to produce a contextually accurate Sinhala translation.
Your API key and cache never leave your device except for the direct request to Google.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

Google Gemini API: Words and sentence context are sent to Google for translation, governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, trade, or share your data, and we use no analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Data Storage

Local Only: Your API key, translation cache, and history are stored in your browser via Chrome's storage API.
No Server Storage: We have no server and store nothing about you.

Data Security

AI translation requests are sent over HTTPS directly to Google.
Your API key is never logged or stored by us.
Requests are size-limited (word up to 100 characters, context up to 500 characters).

Chrome Extension Permissions

Access to the pages you visit (content script on all sites): Lets the extension read the specific word and surrounding sentence you select and show the translation tooltip. It acts only when you trigger a translation and does not read or send anything otherwise.
storage: Store your API key, preferences, and local cache/history in your browser.
contextMenus: Add the right-click "Translate with SinhaLex" menu items.
host_permissions (generativelanguage.googleapis.com): Send translation requests directly to Google's Gemini API.

Your Rights and Choices

Disable or uninstall the extension at any time.
Clear cached translations and history with the Clear Cache button.
Remove your stored API key by clearing the key field in the popup.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above.

Note: SinhaLex has no backend server. The only external data transmission occurs when your browser communicates directly with Google's Gemini API for translation purposes.

ඔබ තෝරන වචන සහ වාක්‍ය: ඔබ වචනයක් පරිවර්තනය කරන විට, ඒ වචනය සහ ඒ අවට ඇති වාක්‍යය Extension එක මගින් හඳුනා ගනී. AI පරිවර්තන සඳහා මෙම තොරතුරු කෙළින්ම Google Gemini API වෙත යවනු ලැබේ; එය අපේ කිසිදු සර්වර් එකක් හරහා යන්නේ නැත. සාමාන්‍ය ශබ්දකෝෂ බලන විට එය සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම ඉන්ටර්නෙට් නැතුව (Offline) සිදුවේ.
ඔබේ Gemini API Key එක: මෙය ඔබේ Chrome Browser එකේ storage පහසුකම හරහා ඔබේ පරිගණකයේම පමණක් සුරක්ෂිතව තබා ගනී. මෙය භාවිතා කරන්නේ Google Gemini API එකට සම්බන්ධ වීමට පමණි. එය කිසිවිටෙකත් අප වෙත එන්නේ නැත.

Google Gemini API: පරිවර්තනය සඳහා ඔබ තෝරන වචන Google වෙත යැවෙන අතර, එය Google Privacy Policy එකට යටත් වේ.

දත්ත ආරක්ෂාව

සියලුම AI පරිවර්තන ඉල්ලීම් ආරක්ෂිත HTTPS ක්‍රමවේදය ඔස්සේ කෙළින්ම Google වෙත ගමන් කරයි.
ඔබේ API Key එක අප විසින් කිසිවිටෙකත් සේව් කරගන්නේ හෝ පරීක්ෂා කරන්නේ නැත.
ආරක්ෂාව සඳහා යවන වචන ප්‍රමාණය සීමා කර ඇත (වචන සඳහා අකුරු 100 දක්වා සහ වාක්‍ය සඳහා අකුරු 500 දක්වා).

Chrome Extension එක සඳහා අවශ්‍ය අවසරයන්

contextMenus: Mouse එකේ Right-click කළ විට "Translate with SinhaLex" ලෙස පෙන්වීමට.
host_permissions (generativelanguage.googleapis.com): Google Gemini API එක වෙත කෙළින්ම සම්බන්ධ වීමට.

ඔබේ අයිතීන් සහ තේරීම්

ඕනෑම වේලාවක මෙම Extension එක අක්‍රිය කිරීමට හෝ ඉවත් කිරීමට ඔබට හැක.
"Clear Cache" බටන් එක මගින් පරිවර්තන ඉතිහාසය මකා දැමිය හැක.
Popup එකේ ඇති Key එක අයින් කිරීමෙන් ඔබේ API Key එක ඉවත් කළ හැක.

මෙම ප්‍රතිපත්තියේ සිදුවන වෙනස්කම්

කාලයෙන් කාලයට මෙම රහස්‍යතා ප්‍රතිපත්තිය වෙනස් විය හැක. විශේෂ වෙනස්කම් සිදු වූ විට ඉහත ඇති "අවසානයට යාවත්කාලීන කළේ" දිනය වෙනස් කරනු ලැබේ.
